World On Wheels has been officially renovated and reopened since the summer of 2017, after its closure in 2013. Yep, in the same location where it all started back in 1981 at Midtown Crossing next to Planet Fitness where Venice, Pico & San Vicente Blvd meet.
World on Wheels originally was a venue responsible for the foundation of Hip Hop in Los Angeles in the early 1980s, with the likes of many now famous Hip-Hop artists such as NWA, LL Cool J,MC Lyte, YoYo, Ice Cube, JJ Fad, UTFO, Uncle Jamm’s Army, and of course radio station KDAY to name a few.
Thanks to Hip-Hop artist Nipsey Hussle and Tommy Karas, for bringing World on Wheels back. Angelenos can now go roller skating, yes this is an all skate, just like back in the day movies like Roll Bounce starring Bow Wow that depict a life and times of innocent fun. However, World on Wheels (WoW) has gone through its ups and downs with plenty of gang activity over the years, lets just fight to keep Nipsey Hussle‘s dream alive, and keep the peace in the streets of Los Angeles, California.
