The company Chapman Studio Equipment was originally founded in 1945, then later merged with Leonard Studio Equipment in 1965. Together, they formed Chapman/Leonard Studio Equipment, Inc., and basically invented the camera crane shot. As a rental company, Chapman/Leonard Studio Equipment also manufactures camera equipment, such as camera cranes for film and television productions around the world.
Chapman/Leonard utilized their infamous camera cranes for such classic and historical films such as, Cecil B. DeMille’s “The Ten Commandments “in 1956 starring Charlton Heston.
