Universal Pictures is a very large film studio, located in Universal City, California. The studio is also referenced to as Universal Studios Hollywood, which is has a Theme Park Backlot, also utilized for filming Motion Pictures and Television. The famous Universal Studios Tours attraction has Rides and more, with a sister Theme Park called Universal Studios Florida.
The famous studio was originally founded in the year of 1912, over 100 years ago by many different film moguls such as, Robert H. Cochrane, Pat Powers, Adam Kessel, Carl Laemmle, William Swanson, David Horsley, Mark Dintenfass, Charles O. Baumann and Jules Brulatour. Deemed the oldest film studio in the United States of America, under the name Universal Film Manufacturing Company.
Now the famous studio is wholly owned by the Media Conglomerate Comcast, through its subsidiary NBCUniversal. Through a merger with NBC Television. The studio is considered to be one of the original “Big Five” of Hollywood film studios, with its additional corporate offices located in New York City. The current Chairperson of Universal Pictures is Donna Langley.
