West Los Angeles College was originally established in 1969 by James M. Limbaugh, Ph.D. The Community College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges, Western Association of Schools and Colleges just to name a few, and is part of the California Community Colleges System as well as the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD). The West LA College motto is: Go West, Go Far! The mascot is the Wildcats, sporting the colors of blue and gold.
With the West LA campus located between Baldwin Hills and Culver City, California, there are approximately over 10,000 students attending various studies. Studies which also include Film Production, through an exclusive partnership with Hollywood Cinema Production Resources (CPR). A nonprofit organization devoted to teaching entry level positions behind the scenes of film production.

- Rashied Davis, former NFL wide receiver.
- Keyshawn Johnson, former NFL wide receiver.
- Warren Moon, NFL Hall of Fame quarterback.
- LaVar Ball, former basketball player (and football player), now CEO of Big Baller Brand.
- Schoolboy Q (born 1986), rapper, also played on the football team.
- Ryan Sherriff (born 1990), Major League Baseball pitcher.
- Jhené Aiko (born 1988), American Singer and Songwriter.
- Isaac Bruce, 1999 All-Pro Team wide receiver and 14-year Rams player, earned a Super Bowl Ring in 2000.
- Tre Capital (born 1995), American Rapper and Songwriter.
- R.F. Georgy, (born 1964). Egyptian American Author of such books as Notes from the Cafe and Absolution.
